Solid September traffic at Spanish airports

Spanish airport operator AENA has announced strong traffic results for September confirming the positive trend since the start of the year. Traffic throughout the network reached 16,151,299 passengers, an increase of 6.6% on the same month last year
Passenger traffic at Madrid Barajas increased by 3.7% to 3.45 m -
Barcelona
also showed a gain of 7.0% to 2.28m. Spanish tourist airports also enjoyed a solid month with Palma de Mallorca reaching 2.45m passengers an increase of 7.2% on last year and
Malaga
up 6.5% to 1.22m .
Industry observers are also speculating that the AENA board is about to make the final decision on which airlines will be operating from
Madrid's new terminal 4, originally scheduled to open in early 2005 but now delayed to Q4 of 2005 or Q1 of 2006. A special board meeting has been scheduled for the first week of November.
