Airport authority AENA has reported strong growth across its airports in September, and is expected to announce the airline line-up for Madrid's new international terminal

Spanish airport authority AENA has announced strong traffic results for September, confirming the positive trend since the start of the year. Traffic across its airport network reached 16.2m passengers, an increase of 6.6% on the same month last year.

Passenger traffic at Madrid Barajas increased by 3.7% to 3.45m, while Barcelona showed a gain of 7% to 2.28m. Tourist airports also enjoyed a solid month with Palma de Mallorca reaching 2.45m passengers?an increase of 7.2% on the same month last year?and Malaga up 6.5% to 1.22m.

RavenFox.com understands that the AENA board is about to make the final decision on which airlines will be operating from Madrid's new terminal 4, originally scheduled to open in early 2005 but now delayed to the fourth quarter 2005 or early 2006. A special board meeting to discuss the issue has been scheduled for the first week of November.
