SkyMall and GuestLogix to develop onboard shopping service

GuestLogix will introduce a new shopping service integrated with SkyMall’s inflight catalogues
Catalogue shopping company SkyMall and onboard technology provider GuestLogix have announced an agreement to allow SKyMall customers to make their purchases inflight. SkyMall’s mail-order catalogue is seen by approximately 88% of all US domestic passengers, about 650m passengers, and is carried onseveral US airlines including Delta Air Lines. The company also sells merchandise through its website (www.skymall.com).
SkyMall president Christine Aguilera said: “Our research showed that 73% of our customers made their buying decision on the plane and GuestLogix provides a platform that will allow us to take customers orders inflight. Making it easy for customers to ring up their sale at 30,000ft will help us close more impulse buys and offer more convenience to time-pressed travellers. We look forward to working with GuestLogix to provide an enhanced onboard shopping experience which will benefit both our airlines as well as busy travellers.”
GuestLogix CEO Tom Douramakos added: “The combination of SkyMall’s inflight catalogue and our onboard retail platform provides airlines substantial opportunity for ancillary revenue at a time when its especially difficult to raise ticket prices. This agreement also exemplifies the potential of our Mobile Virtual Store as an efficient channel that enables retail partners, operators and GuestLogix to benefit mutually from new onboard sales.”
