The company will manage outlets at Dhaka Zia International, Shah Amanat and Osmani International airports
Bangladeshi retailer SkyLux Ltd has been awarded contracts to operate new duty-free stores at Dhaka Zia International, Shah Amanat and Osmani International airports, which will open next month. The company, which is part of the SkyLux Group, is also close to reaching agreements to sell duty-free on board Biman Bangladesh Airlines as well as in border stores.
Each space is located in the main departure lounge of the airports and SkyLux has the option for a second concession in arrivals, which it plans to take up once the first stores have opened. The agreement gives them first choice on new constructions, extensions or terminals added to the airports within the contract period.
SkyLux, which was launched as part of a government initiative to reinvent tourism in Bangladesh, has pinpointed lighting as a key element in the design of the stores and will use backlit panels and logos, light boxes and illuminated glass shelving to create a modern shopping environment. It is also inviting selected brands to assist with the design of their retail space.
