Seven international retailers have pre-qualified for the duty-free tender in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced the seven firms that pre-qualified for the next round of the duty-free tender for three airports in Saudi Arabia.

Aldeasa, Aer Rianta International-Middle East, ATU, DFS Ventures Singapore, Dufry Group, The Nuance Group and World Duty Free Europe have been selected from the pre-qualification process to continue to enter the request for proposals stage.

Aelia, who confirmed to DFNI earlier in the year that it had registered for pre-qualification, has not been selected. Saudi Arabian operators who have pre-qualified will be announced at a later date.

The winning bidder will finance and build two stores at Jeddah airport, two at Riyadh, and one at Dammam totalling about 850sq m (9,150sq ft).

GACA has stipulated that to move on to the request for proposals stage, international bidders must form a partnership with pre-qualified Saudi Arabian companies, while local companies will have to form a partnership with an international operator in order to fulfil the requirements of the technical bid.
