Setur Servis Turistik has begun its renovation of the six border sites in Turkey
Setur Servis Turistik has opened a 1,000sq m (10,760sq ft) duty-free store on the borders of Iraq and Turkey at Habur as part of a plan to modernise outlets at the Turkish border gates. Setur won the 15-year contract to operate six border sites in Turkey last October.
Setur general manager Üstün Özbey told RavenFox.com: We sell all the regular duty-free products at the shop and we believe the technology and infrastructure will make it one of the best stores in the region.
The retailer will open an outlet at Cilvegözü on the border of Turkey and Syria in June.
Özbey confirmed that there would be no collaboration with Hellenic Duty Free Shops on the border shop initiative and that he could not reveal further plans for Kapikule as the company was still in the handover process.
Other stores to be rebuilt as part of the modernisation programme include stores at Sarp and Sarpi on the border with Georgia, and Dereköy and Kapikule on the border with Bulgaria, which is scheduled to open at the end of the year.
