Coty Prestige calls for the industry to stay vigilant as the impact of security restrictions eases with gate deliveries
Coty Prestige claims that the impact of tightened security ruleson fragrance sales has lessened since gateside deliveries have been introduced in the UK and the US.
Coty Prestige worldwide travel-retail and export Latin America vice president and managing director Joe Porcelli told Ravenfox.com: "Initially sales of fragrances were definitely impacted by the restrictions, but the impact is lessening with the gate deliveries as passengers become more familiar with airport procedures."
Porcelli said it is "too early" to tell what "normal will be in future" but called for the industry to work together closely to address the issue. "It is important that retailers, airport authorities and suppliers work closely together to minimise the impact. We will need to be continuously vigilant and stay abreast of security issues."
He suggest that tamper proof packaging may be a solution for the industry to protect itself from some of the more extreme airport security measures installed as would a sealed bag from point of purchase at duty-free shops.
