Second China Summit planned for 2003
After 576 delegates participated in the first-ever China Travel Retail Summit in Beijing on May 16-17, a second event is planned for 2003
Organised by China Duty Free Group (CDFG) and China Power Duty Free Group with programme development and moderation by Moodie International, this year's Summit attracted 205 domestic delegates and 217 international delegates, plus 24 Chinese senior officials, 10 domestic press and 120 CDFG staff.
China Duty Free Group and China Power Duty Free Group chairman Gai Zhixin said: "The overwhelming turnout and quality of the event confirms the golden future of Chinese duty free. The Chinese delegates found the presentations from international speakers highly informative and educational and overseas visitors also learned much about China and the Chinese duty free industry. The Summit marked a crucial point in our industry's exciting advance."
The Summit will be repeated next year in either Beijing or Shanghai with an alternative location to be announced for 2004. Moodie International has been appointed to organize and moderate the programme, working with CDFG and China Power.
Additionally, the organizers have announced the creation of a China Travel Retail Training School to encourage opportunities for young Chinese professionals and to improve standards within the industry.
The school will be part funded by a major charity dinner to be held in China early next year.
