Schriver assumes key DFS post as Martin heads fashion
Michael Schriver has assumed the key post of executive vice-president, merchandising at DFS Group with specific responsibility for luxury, liquor/tobacco and destinations. The move is one of several in the company's merchandising and purchasing departments.
Schriver replaces Dennis Garro, who has announced his resignation, effective January 31, to pursue other opportunities in the San Francisco Bay area. As a result, Michael Schriver has been promoted. In addition, during the transition, merchandise planning and distribution (mpd) will continue to report to him.
Schriver was most recently senior vice-president, mpd. He joined DFS as vice-president, GMM for the Hawaii region in 1998 and was named senior vice-president later that year. Prior to DFS, he held several merchandising and store management positions with Macy's East.
Kirk Martin will continue in his role as executive vice-president, merchandising and will assume additional responsibility for the group's fashion businesses and the Fashion office. In addition to the fashion categories, Martin will retain Boutiques, Florence Merchandising and Beauty. Both Martin and Schriver will report directly to chairman and ceo Ed Brennan.
Peter Ekman has been appointed as vice-president, merchandise manager, liquor/tobacco, reporting to Schriver, effective January 29. He was formerly vice-president, sales & marketing for Domaine Chandon North America.
