Experienced aviation manager Ad Rutten to take responsibility for airport operations at Amsterdam Schiphol

Schiphol Group has appointed Ad Rutten as chief operating officer, replacing Marike van Liers Lals from September 1. Rutten will be responsible for airport operations at Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

Rutten currently holds the position of executive vice-president engineering and maintenance at KLM and was previously executive vice president at KLM Ground Services. He fulfilled various positions at Amsterdam Schiphol between 1979 and 1996, including general manager of the airport terminal responsible for passenger processes, and general manager airside, responsible for airside operations.

The COO role is being filled on an interim basis by Alain Maca, president of JFKIAT, the company that manages terminal four at JFK airport in New York.
