Christopher Garside has been appointed to assist the General Authority of Civil Aviation as it prepares to announce the winner of the country’s first airport duty-free tender.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia has announced the appointment of Christopher Garside as duty-free adviser. Garside and GACA’s Fahad Al Basrawi will work with the winner of the tender to operate duty-free at Saudi Arabia’s three international airports, helping to establish the country’s first airport duty-free operations. An announcement on the tender, which includes pre-selected international and local partners, is expected soon.

GACA director general business development and properties management Fouzi Fathaldin said: “We are delighted that Chris has joined us and he is already a valued member of our team. He brings enormous experience to GACA and will be instrumental in achieving, with the appointed operator, first-class duty-free shops at our international airports.”
