Sanford audit boosts Alpha Retail USA
18-Jan-2003
Alpha Retail USA's improved performance at Orlando Sanford International airport was one of few positive areas highlighted by a recent audit of the airport. The audit revealed that average passenger spend at Sanford stood at $10, five times the national average
And Alpha hopes to give its operation a further boost with the opening of a specialist children's outlet.
The audit compared Sanford with 14 airports in Florida and the southern US states, and ranked it second - just below Miami International airport - in terms of income per passenger from concessions. A spokesman for Alpha attributed the company's performance to its effective understanding of UK charter traffic - the airport's main source of passengers. He said that passenger spend in 2002 had grown across all categories, despite a decline in traffic, and revealed that Alpha would be introducing its new corporate identity to the airport's stores later in the year.
