Private equity groups hoping to capture the Compass subsidiary have approached Autogrill as a potential partner

Italian conglomerate Autogrill has been approached by firms interested in making a joint offer for Compass subsidiary catering firm Select Service Partners (SSP). According to the Financial Times at least two groups have approached the firm, which also owns Spanish travel retailer Aldeasa through an equal partnership with tobacco supplier Altadis.

Autogrill is believed to be the only trade buyer in the running for SSP. Private equity firms known to be interested include Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Macquarie Bank, Terra Firma and BC Partners.

Autogrill owns 888 food and beverage outlets on motorways and in airports and railway stations across 15 countries.
