Romanian joint venture opens online duty-free store

8-May-2003

Two Romanian companies, Alliance Networks and OmniCom Network, have set up a web-based duty-free service operating out of Constantza duty-free zone

The site, www.worldfreeshop.com offers a wide range of goods at duty-free prices, including fragrances, liquor, cigarettes and accessories. The products are delivered from the company's warehouse in Constantza.

"From the start we have tried to achieve the lowest prices for goods and delivery in order to keep the final price to be paid by customers as low as possible," said a spokesperson for the company. "At the same time we have developed a functional and easy-to-use customer help centre that is really helpful for our clients. Of course we will work permanently to improve this feature in order to make it easy for a buyer to take advantage of our offer."

The spokesperson added that online security is a key issue. "As for any e-shop, security is very important for us. The entire online payment process is managed by a major US processor. We do not store any credit card information on our servers. Regarding personal information, which helps us to improve the relationship with our customers, we are committed to keep them safe and not, under any circumstances, share our database with third parties."
