The introduction of ‘Grab and Fly’ outlets and the successful renegotiation of food and beverage concessions led to a 10.7% rise in retail revenues
Macquarie Airports (MAp) has announced that full-year revenues at Brussels airport were up by 6.9% to €367.1m ($531.7m) in 2007, compared with €343.6m ($497.6m) in the previous corresponding period. EBITDA grew 11.2% to €203.5m ($294.8m) in the year, while revenues from retail concessions rose by 10.7% to €43.5m ($63m). Retail revenues in the fourth quarter of 2007 increased by 13.9% to €11.5m ($16.6m) compared with the same period in 2006.
MAp CEO Kerrie Mather said: “In our third year of ownership, Brussels airport continues to deliver excellent results with double-digit EBITDA growth. All areas of the business are performing strongly, with traffic, retail and car parking enjoying solid revenue growth alongside strong cost control. Retail and car parking revenues have both increased ahead of traffic growth, reflecting a wide range of improvements implemented during 2007. These include the successful renegotiation of the food and beverage concession, the introduction of ‘Grab and Fly’ outlets and increased average transaction values in the car parking business as a result of improved product differentiation.”
