The world's biggest annual travel-retail event has opened for registration

Registration has opened for the 21st TFWA World Exhibition. It will be held in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes from October 31 to November 4.

TFWA expects over 6000 delegates to attend this year's event, which will feature about 500 companies representing 3,000 brands. It will open on Monday morning with the traditional conference at which speakers, as yet unnamed, will lead a debate on issues affecting the industry.

The organiser said that last year's event attracted 5,100 people from 2,614 companies, an increase of 5% on 2003 figures. About one-third of those there were buyers and airport authorities; one-third were agents and distributors and one-third were press and other visitors.

Social events scheduled for this year include the welcome cocktail on Sunday October 30 and gala dinner on Thursday November 3. TFWA's nightclub The Scene will once again be staged at the Noga Hilton Beach.

On Sunday, sporting events including golf, tennis, petanque, rugby and football will be held.
