About 1,500 pairs of the company’s folding shoes have been sold at Amsterdam Schiphol airport since September

Footwear supplier Redfoot Duty Free has hailed the success of its folding shoes in travel-retail following its debut at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes this year. The company reported that about 1,500 pairs of its travel and after-party shoes have been sold at Amsterdam Schiphol airport—its first location in travel-retail—since September.

The company has also gained listings at Lisbon International airport from November and with Mauritius Duty Free Paradise starting in December. From January 2010, Redfoot’s shoes will be available at Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa and Copenhagen Kastrup airports. In addition, Icelandair has begun selling the shoes at the SAGA duty-free shop at Keflavík International airport.

Redfoot told DFNIonline it expects to have agreements with ”at least two large international airlines” within a month. The company added that ferry operators including Stena Line will list its folding shoes in the near future.

The company’s shoes are available in four sizes and two styles, ballerina and loafer, in leather, fabric or snakeskin-effect material. Redfoot also has a licence to produce Sex and the City folding shoes, with models named after Carrie and Samantha (pictured). Recommended retail prices start at €39.95 ($60) for the textile styles.
