The ferry operator said sales were up to €1.495m ($1.99m) in this year’s edition of the whisky event
Ferry company Viking Line hailed this year’s edition of its specialist whisky event as the most successful yet. The 2012 Viking Line Whisky Fair attracted about 4,800 customers over three sailings of the company’s Cinderella ferry (pictured) and total sales reached €1.495m ($1.99m).
Viking Line manager promotions spirits, wine, beer, soft drinks, confectionery and tobacco Anna Wennström told DFNIonline: “All three sailings went very well and we actually managed to increase total sales from last year—€1.495m against €1.2m [$1.597m] last year—so we are really happy with the results.”
Wennström added that the event, now in its fourth year, started off with two sailings in its first edition and was expanded to three overnight trips between Stockholm and the Åland Islands last year following its success. The first sailing of 2013 attracted 1,300 visitors, up from 900 in 2012, while the second and third sailings gathered 1,700 and 1,800 customers respectively.
Among the suppliers at this year’s event were Diageo, Moët Hennessy, William Grant & Sons, Maxxium Travel Retail, Ian McLeod Distillers, Morrison Bowmore Distillers and Mackmyra.
