RavenFox.com is number one

15-Apr-2005

The site welcomed almost 5,500 unique users viewing close to 55,000 pages in March, making it the most widely-read travel-retail information service on the web

With higher traffic and more unique visitors than any of its rivals, RavenFox.com is now the leading news website in travel-retail. In the month of March, 54,717 pages were viewed by 5,491 unique visitors. This compares with The Moodie Report whose published figures reveal that the website welcomes 44,000 page views per month with 4,500 unique visitors.

Raven Fox managing director Paul Kelly said: "DFNI has long been recognised as the leading print publication and to now be number one electronically is a testament to the hard work put in by all at Raven Fox, particularly the editorial staff who continue to break news and provide independent commentary and analysis for the industry. We are delighted with the continuing growth of web traffic and with the success of DFNI Digital and DFNI eXTRA, and we are committed to making further improvements to the services we offer."

DFNI Digital, the service allowing subscribers to DFNI to view a PDF version of the magazine from the day of publication, has proved especially popular, said Kelly. "We now plan to make this service even easier to use for subscribers. While DFNI remains our flagship publication, our electronic services are crucial to us. The results show we are on the right track but there is always room for improvement."

Notes: RavenFox.com traffic and visitor data is measured using Urchin software. Urchin is used by over one million sites worldwide and is the standard at most of the world's largest hosts and 20% of the Fortune 500.

Urchin defines a 'pageview' as a request from a visitor's browser for a displayable web page, generally an HTML file. Urchin's configuration controls which file extensions are treated as pageviews. In general, images and other embedded content, such as style sheets and JavaScript, are not considered to be pageviews.

Unique visitors are tracked using the Urchin Traffic Monitor standard. Sessions are determined by detecting a period of inactivity or the opening of a new browser by the visitor. Robots, spiders, non-browser agents, visits from Raven Fox IP addresses and Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC IP addresses are not counted as visitors.
