At a packed Raven Fox Ball on Friday night, the travel-retail industry raised well over $100,000 for the Chernobyl Children's Project, an Ireland-based charity for long-term victims of the nuclear disaster in 1986. About 360 people attended the event, which has become one of the social highlights of the industry calendar.

Overseas guests included Antares Cheng from King Power Group, Sunil Tuli from Weitnauer, Colm McLoughlin from Dubai Duty Free, Nick Hillyard and Pierre Viarnaud from Hellenic Duty Free, former IAADFS president David Bernstein, plus a large contingent from World Duty Free Americas, including Ramon Bosquez and Steve Zurcher. A large Aer Rianta International team, including Middle East and Moscow chiefs John Sutcliffe and Bill Maxwell, helped lend a suitably Irish flavour to the night.

Additionally, an appeal on behalf of the victims of the Indian Earthquake raised over $16,000. The prize, for a six-night stay in Goa was donated by Air India and the India Tourism Development Corp, and included an advertising package on travelretailworld.com donated by Raven Fox.
