Pringle aims for airport growth

The UK fashion house believes its future lies in new stores at the world's most luxurious airports

UK fashion label Pringle has announced its intention to grow the number of airport stores it operates, focusing on the world's top travel-retail locations for luxury brands. The decision follows the opening of its first airport store at London Heathrow airport terminal three last year, and the company suggested that airports including Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Singapore and Amsterdam Schiphol would be prime targets.

Speaking to UK national newspaper The Business, CEO Kim Winser claimed that the store was the second most successful outlet in Heathrow. "We are now in discussions to launch in a number of airports around the world," said Winser. "There are two ways of doing it and we are looking at both. We can go to individual airports - without question there are only 12 top airports in the world for luxury goods trading - or we can go with someone who trades in most of those and they would open shops on our behalf."
