Prices of more than 350 retail and food products have been reduced by an average of 25% since the new terminal two opened last month, according to reports
Shanghai Airport Authority has ordered shops and restaurants to cut retail and food prices by an average of 25% at Shanghai Pudong International airport terminal two, according to the Shanghai Daily newspaper. Prices of more than 350 products have been cut since the airport’s new T2 opened on March 26 to match those offered at other transport terminals such as railway stations.
The airport authority added that prices of 500 products will be tracked by the end of April, when 18 new airlines are scheduled to move to T2. Luxury goods prices will be no higher than those offered at the West Nanjing Road high-end shopping district, while the airport’s restaurants will be categorised and prices adjusted in line with those in downtown outlets. Bottom-level restaurant prices will match those at metro and railway stations, while high-level restaurants will be required to keep prices in line with those at four-star hotels.
According to reports, the airport also plans to build a 10,000sq m (107,639sq ft) shopping area between its two terminals offering discount outlets and cheap restaurants.
