ANA Aeroportos de Portugal has agreed a seven-year contract with the Spanish operator to set up a management company to oversee airport retail

Portuguese airport authority ANA Aeroportos de Portugal has confirmed it is to set up a new management company in partnership with Aldeasa to oversee retail at all the company's airports. The move, reported in DFNI January 15, is part of ANA's drive to improve revenues at the airports of Lisbon, Oporto and Faro.

ANA retail director Jose Carlos Rosa told TRW the authority awarded the seven-year contract to Aldeasa amid competition from BAA, the Nuance Group and a local Portuguese company. "My goal is to maximise revenue, and between ourselves and Aldeasa there are a number of important synergies," he said. Aldeasa already operates stores at ANA's airports, in addition to a duty-free shop at the new international airport on the Portuguese airport of Madeira.
