Petchey takes buying role at Alpha

Martin Petchey will retain his role as international director while assuming new responsibilities for liquor, tobacco and confectionery buying

Alpha Retail has appointed Martin Petchey head of liquor, tobacco and duty-free confectionery strategy.

Reporting to managing director David King, Petchey will join Alpha's buying team, which is responsible for purchasing at both Alpha Airport Shopping and Alpha In-flight Retail. He will also retain his existing responsibilities as the company's international director. 

Petchey brings more than 25 years' experience in international travel-retail to the post, having worked in purchasing roles for The Nuance Group for 18 years and as an independent industry consultant before joining Alpha in 1996.  King said that his experience as international director would prove invaluable.
