A three-horse race is expected for the Paris Charles de Gaulle terminal one beauty, liquor and tobacco tender, with final bids to be submitted today
The deadline for final bids in the tender to operate beauty, liquor and tobacco at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport terminal one passes today, with Aelia, Dufry Group and Alpha Retail expected to make submissions. RavenFox.com understands that Aldeasa has pulled out of the bid.
The tender includes a 285sq m (3,066sq ft) liquor and tobacco store and a 256sq m (2,754sq ft) beauty outlet, both airside, plus seven last-minute stores in T1's satellites offering all three categories. The commercial areas in T1, which is being fully renovated, will be completed in autumn 2006, though landlord Aéroports de Paris (AdP) is to open temporary outlets in the interim period. The refurbished terminal will be fully operational in 2008.
Aelia remains favourite to win the T1 contract given its experience at Paris CdG and its close ties with the airport authority, with whom it operates retail at the airport's terminal 2E in a joint venture.
As revealed on RavenFox.com earlier this week, AdP has awarded the T1 fashion tender to PAP, a partnership between retailer HF Phénix and Aelia owner Hachette Distribution Services.
