P&O launches surf, shop and sail initiative
Ferry operator P&O Portsmouth launched a new Internet pre-order service this week, guaranteeing product availability for travelling shoppers at French duty-paid prices. The online shopping site is the first for the Western Channel route and has the added benefit of allowing customers a choice of when to collect their goods, freeing up their travel time.
P&O Portsmouth has been making use of the Internet for sometime, enabling customers to book tickets online, and providing them with the most up to date information. The new shopping service enables customers who have booked with P&O to pre-order from an extensive range of goods and pre-pay. Customers can order via the company's main website www.poportsmouth.com, or from Travel Traders, the onboard outlets at www.thetraveltraders.com or the company's Ferry Superstore, a wine, beer and spirits supermarket, in Cherbourg at www.ferryboutique.com. Orders can be placed and availability guaranteed, from five to 35 days before travelling said P&O.
P&O Portsmouth head of onboard services, John Davey, commented: "Some people go to France just for their French duty-paid goods because it is considerably cheaper than buying in the UK. This speeds up the process for them because their goods are readily available to take away. The Travel Trader shops and Ferry Superstore stock major brands so that passengers know they are purchasing products with consistent quality."
