Oslo releases tender details
Airport authorities Oslo Lufthavn and Avinor have released details of the keenly anticipated tender to run duty-free at Oslo Gardermoen and four regional Norwegian airports
Norwegian airport authority Avinor, owner of Oslo Gardermoen landlord Oslo Lufthavn (OSL) plus 45 airports in the country, has announced details of the tender to operate duty-free at Gardermoen and four regional airports. The tender will be keenly contested, with bids expected from Oslo incumbent SAS Trading, The Nuance Group and Alpha Retail among others.
The seven-year contract will run from January 1 2005 until December 31 2011, and covers retail space at Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim and Kristiansand airports. At Oslo, 1,107sq m (11,911sq ft) of duty-free space is on offer, along with 670sq m (7,209sq ft) allocated to two speciality stores. At Stavanger, two duty-free stores will be awarded, covering 243sq m (2,615sq ft), while both Bergen and Trondheim will offer one 282sq m (3,034sq ft) duty-free outlet. At Kristiansand, Avinor will award one 88sq m (947sq ft) duty-free store.
The winning bidder will also be awarded a supply contract for duty-free operations run by Avinor at Haugesund, Alesund, Bodo and Tromso airports.
On assessing bids, Avinor and OSL said that "special emphasis" would be placed on candidates' experience in selling duty-free goods in European airports, their financial solidity, operating concepts, quality of service, pricing and sales-based remuneration. Only one bidder will be chosen but two contracts will be signed, one with Avinor and one with OSL.
The deadline for expressions of interest is February 10 2004. Invitations to tender will be issued later in February.
Full details and reaction will appear in DFNI January 15.
