Orlando details news and gifts tender programme

23-May-2002

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has announced details of two news/sundries/gift concessions and additional bids coming onstream later this year and next year at Orlando International airport

One is for the operation of a 3,000sq ft (279sq m) news/sundries/gift store located on level 2 of the airside 1 building. The proposals deadline for this concession, currently operated by the local Keys Airport Business Group, is June 20 2002. Another large single news/sundries/gift store in the airside 3 building, currently operated by WH Smith Travel Retail, is also open for tender with a closing date of June 3 2002. Various other concessions in the same area are also open for bid such as a gourmet coffee outlet.

Derryl Benton Orlando's director of concessions told TRW: "One of the bid conditions is that these stores are to be renovated. On the landside we have another major renovation being completed next spring which redesigns and relocates our food court from the west end to the middle. There will also be added value for retail from that central mass of passengers, but it is too soon to give details. "

Two further news/sundries/gift concessions at Orlando landside are also opening for tenders in mid-July 2002, operated by The Paradies Shops and WH Smith Travel Retail.

Orlando also confirmed that a remodelled 4,000sq ft (372sq m) Disney Store is about to open as an anchor store in the airport's east end landside. New remodelled stores for Universal Studios and Seaworld, complete with acquarium, are also opening as part of a major landside renovation.
