Orient King Power wins Shanghai landside and domestic retail contract

The King Power Group (Hong Kong) subsidiary has won the seven-year contract to operate domestic and landside retail at Shanghai Pudong

King Power Group (Hong Kong) subsidiary Orient King Power Travel Retail Co has been awarded 991.5sq m (10,669sq ft) of retail space at Shanghai Pudong airport, covering landside and domestic terminal stores. The seven-year contract starts on January 1 2007.

The space covers 429sq m (4,616sq ft) airside and 562.5sq m (6,053sq ft) landside. Product categories to be offered will include duty- and tax-paid liquor and tobacco, fragrances and cosmetics, fashion and accessories, luggage, costume jewellery, electronics, pens, lighters, watches, eyewear, toys, packaged food, soft drinks and Chinese tea and silk products.

King Power duty-free and travel-retail managing director Sunil Tuli said: “The domestic and landside business in Chinese airports is an important part of our expansion strategy, and we are very pleased to have gained this contract at this very important airport. We are now in negotiations with brands and are inviting them to participate in this business with us.”
