Following the controversial ousting of the previous operator Duty Free Company (TRW 13/03/02) Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) has launched its own duty-free market at Seeb International airport partially supplied by Abu Dhabi Duty Free. According to local press reports the company has appointed itself a concession for 10 months starting from March 25, 2002.

An opening ceremony was held yesterday under the auspices of the Oman director general of aviation Ahmed bin Said al Rawahi. He said the project, a "prime example of the fruits of the privatisation process", would offer the highest quality services to travellers. The refurbished duty-free shop includes areas for fragrances, jewellery, gold, electronics, confectionery and other items.
