The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has decided to refer BAA to the Competition Commission for further investigation

UK airports group BAA has been referred to the Competition Committee (CC) following an initial period of public consultation. As reported previously on RavenFox.com, OFT originally proposed that BAA be investigated by CC in a report published on December 12 2006.

During the consultation over 60 responses were received from parties including airlines, consumers and other organisations. As a result OFT decided that competition concerns were valid and merited further investigation.

A copy of the OFT’s reasons for making a reference to the CC will be available on the OFT website from Tuesday April 3 2007. The terms of the reference will be published later on the Competition Commission’s website: www.competition-commission.gov.uk
