Nuance replaces Alpha at Cardiff and Belfast

The Nuance Group is to take over retail contracts at Cardiff and Belfast International airports that were previously held by Alpha Retail.

Airport authority TBI confirmed the appointment to TRW, saying: "We're delighted to have Nuance as our retail partner at all three of our UK airports." Nuance already operates the retail concession at London Luton.

Nuance will take over at Cardiff in June and at Belfast in October this year.

TBI said that Alpha was unable to make the concessions profitable under its existing contracts and gave notice, prompting a fresh tender for the two airports. Both Alpha and Nuance took part in the subsequent bid and Nuance emerged as the winner.

The authority added that "an orderly handover from Alpha is underway".
