The Swiss retailer has joined the campaign to defend duty-free sales under the current security regime
The European Travel Retail Council (ETRC) secretary general Keith Spinks announced at The Baltic and East European Regional Conference 2007 in Kiev earlier this month that The Nuance Group has made a 50,000 ($73,377) donation to the associations global aviation security campaign. The pledge followed an interactive panel session chaired by Spinks in which he once again highlighted the importance of getting more countries to apply for "approved country" status with the European Commission on liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) security.
The Nuance Group executive vice-president strategy and business development Ivo Favotto told RavenFox.com: We think this is a serious issue and it affects uswe have problems in Australia and Canada as well as in our hub locations in Hong Kong and Singapore. So we think the campaign is important, we see a way forward and this is the right answer for us.
Spinks added: This is great news. Im very pleased with [Nuances] decision to support the campaign; it shows that key operators out there as well as the brands understand the issues that were dealing with and are contributing to the campaign. I would just like to take the opportunity to call on those who havent done so to follow Nuances lead.
