The Nuance Group is to launch a pre-order shopping service for passengers travelling onboard Swiss, Switzerland's new national carrier. From May 5, passengers will be able to choose from 170 items from the airline's website www.swiss.com and collect their merchandise upon boarding.

Under the terms of the scheme, passengers travelling from Switzerland are asked to order a minimum of 48 hours before their flight. Those travelling on Swiss flights from other locations must order at least 72 hours before departure. Payment is collected by cabin crew during the flight and those customers who are unhappy with the items ordered may return them immediately. Passengers may also place orders during a flight and pick up their shopping on their next flight.

A spokesman for Nuance said the pre-order assortment would emphasise the airline's Swiss origins, with a strong selection of watches from brands such as Chopard, Raymond Weil, Longines, Rado, Swatch, Alfex and Wenger. Other categories offered include jewellery, designer goods, fashion and accessories, fragrances, cosmetics, liquor and tobacco.

In addition to its inflight concession with Swiss, Nuance also operates retail onboard Edelweiss Air, TAP Air Portugal and Maersk Air.
