Nuance extends at Las Vegas
The group gains a three-year extension to its contract after agreeing to renovate its four locations
The Nuance Group has extended its duty-free and news and gifts concession at Las Vegas McCarran airport until March 31 2010. The retailer, which has operated at McCarran since 1997, said that it expects to generate sales of $40m over the duration of the three-year extension.
The group operates two duty-free stores at the airport, trading under the name of Liberty Duty Free, and two News Travels news and gifts locations. Nuance recently reached an agreement with the airport to renovate its stores (DFNI April 15). The company had been unwilling to work on its stores until it received assurance from the airport that the terminal would cater for international traffic for at least five more years. The concerns were prompted by indecision over the use of a new terminal at McCarran, scheduled to open in 2010.
The Nuance Group North America CEO Richard Rendek said: "This extension is a clear vote of confidence from the airport management. We plan to invest significant funds to renovate all our Las Vegas locations in the near future so we can further optimise our business."
