Nuance appoints new managing director for Denmark

Stig Nielsen joins the company from Danish department store Magasin du Nord

The Nuance Group has appointed Stig Nielsen as managing director for Denmark. Nielsen will join the group from Danish department store Magasin du Nord, where he is currently COO, and starts his new role on October 12.

At Magasin du Nord Nielsen holds overall responsibility for the retail organisation, sales, buying, marketing and human resources. Further positions at Magasin du Nord include sales director, senior vice-president buying and marketing store director. Before joining Magasin du Nord Nielsen worked for the Danish Supermarkets Group.

Executive vice-president business development and strategic marketing Carlo Bernasconi said: "Stig is a retailer through and through and will bring his extensive retail knowledge as well as a thorough understanding of the Danish retail market to his new function."

The Nuance Group managing director Switzerland and general manager for Zurich Stephan Salvisberg steps down from his temporary role covering the Scandinavian activities after the departure of previous managing director Denmark Duncan Lawley earlier this year. Bernasconi said: "Stephan has been instrumental in the successful refurbishment of our Copenhagen tax-free shop. Working in an extremely challenging environment, Stephan has helped bring our Danish operation up to new standards and done much to regain the trust of our airport partner."
