Nuance-Watson tops Changi perfumery bids
Nuance-Watson today topped the bids for the Singapore Changi
terminal two fragrances and cosmetics concession, with offers of
around S$120m ($66m) for the three-year contract. The bid covered
three tender options, including the main contract plus two branded
stores in terminal two.
Nuance-Watson, which operates the fragrances and cosmetics contract
at Hong Kong International airport, bid alongside incumbent
Saresco, DFS, Weitnauer and an Alpha-SUTL partnership. The
contract is worth approximately S$60m ($33m) a year, slightly more
than the terminal one contract operated by Weitnauer.
Incumbent Saresco Travellers (now owned by Hachette Distribution
Services), which had pledged to defend its contract, put in
competitive bids. Saresco and Alpha's joint venture were the
closest bidders to Nuance-Watson. Under option one, Nuance-Watson
bid S$118.4m ($65m), around 8% ahead of its nearest rival Saresco.
Under option two, it bid S$121.9m ($67m), just under 8% ahead of
Saresco and Alpha-SUTL, and under option three, it bid S$124.3m
($68.2m), 7% ahead of Alpha-SUTL.
