Nuance-Watson (HK) opened the first of its new stores at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) on August 4. The Plaza and Sound & Vision form part of the General Merchandise and Audio-Visual Equipment concessions won by Nuance-Watson during its run of tender successes at Hong Kong earlier this year.
The Plaza covers 892sq m (9,600sq ft) in HKIA's SkyMart duty-free area and is Nuance-Watson's biggest general merchandise store at the airport. It offers watches and jewellery, fine food, souvenirs, fashion and accessories, sunglasses and stationery. Designed to create an Oriental atmosphere with Chinese furniture and lantern-style lighting, the store is intended ?to provide passengers at HKIA with a multi-category outlet that has the warm familiarity of a cosy and very friendly department store?, according to Nuance-Watson.
Sound & Vision, meanwhile, offers the latest electronic goods including digital cameras, mobile phones, laptops, portable DVD and minidisc players, PDAs and games consoles. Customers will be able to test products and take advantage of services such as digital photo printing and media card data transfer.
Nuance-Watson (HK) managing director Alessandra Piovesana said: ?I am delighted that our hard work and commitment has given us this wonderful chance to realise these innovative visions. All Nuance-Watson store concepts are built on the cornerstone of our customers' needs, and my team and I are happy to be the ones who get to meet those needs. These new stores will enable us to serve passengers at HKIA up to the next decade.?
The Plaza and Sound & Vision are the first stores to open in a programme that will feature 34 Nuance-Watson store openings by January 2004. The other concessions won by the operator are Perfumes and Cosmetics and Pharmaceutical and Personal Care, along with six branded boutiques and three speciality stores. Nuance-Watson's total retail space at HKIA will increase to 5,445sq m (58,600sq ft).
