The Austrian jeweller gains strong exposure in India at the new international airport
Austrian jewellery supplier Frey Wille has opened a shop-in-shop within the main duty-free store at Bangalore International airport in India. The space, which includes a pillar and two wall units covering about 12sq m (129sq ft), marks the brand’s first cooperation with travel retailer The Nuance Group, which operates the duty-free concessions at Bangalore in a joint venture with local company Shoppers’ Stop.
Frey Wille director of international duty-free Wessam Elmona told DFNI: “It is always interesting and challenging to start dealing with a new operator. If Bangalore does well we plan to go to Hyderabad too, but I wanted to check how Bangalore is doing. I am optimistic because we know that 14.8% of our Asian buyers are Indian. Taking into consideration that we don’t have a single point of sale in India, the acceptance of our brand is quite good.”
The company has opened several new spaces in the past six months, including a new shop-in-shop at Dubai International airport terminal three’s concourse two with Dubai Duty Free, a new cooperation with Sunrise Duty Free at Beijing Capital International airport T3 and downtown boutiques in Abu Dhabi and Jeddah [in Saudi Arabia]. It is also working on a concept in Malaysia, which it hopes to complete by July.
