Norwegian liquor supplier Arcus privatised

10-Feb-2001

?Arcus Produkter, the producer of Linie Aquavit and other Norwegian wine and spirit brands, has been privatised. A group of investors, including German liquor supplier Berentzen, has bought 66% of the company from the Norwegian government, which retains the remaining shares.

The investors, trading under the name Sucra AS, plan to increase exports of aquavit, with the duty-free channel expected to play a role. An Arcus statement insisted there would be no organisational or personnel changes within the company.

Sucra paid NKr340m ($38.7m) for the two-thirds share in Arcus, which is therefore valued at about NKr515m ($58.7m).
