Nordic seminar to reveal research findings
This year's Nordic Travel Retail Seminar, to be held in Stockholm on June 8-9, will debate the findings of a research study set up to investigate the key issues facing travel-retail in the crucial Scandinavian region. The study, commissioned by a working group set up after last year's seminar, has been designed to explore pricing and customer perception of travel-retail since intra-EU duty-free abolition. The working group will reconvene in April to discuss the study's findings and propose solutions that will be unveiled to the trade at the June seminar.
As last year, Danish Duty Free & Travel Retail Association chairman Alan Bork will chair the seminar. He commented: "Considering that this industry is not only still dealing with the aftermath of duty-free abolition in 1999 but is also burdened by the global crisis in the travel industry, it was a relief to see at last year's Seminar how the various players in the industry set aside their narrower business interests and took part in a broader discussion on how to deal with the problems facing the industry. In the Danish association we not only feel bound by last year's success at the Nordic Travel Retail Seminar but we also feel obliged to ensure a follow-up on the clearly-expressed wish of the seminar delegates to ensure that the seminar would lead to tangible results for the industry."
The seminar will be a one-day session followed by dinner. Confirmed speakers include Tax Free World Association president and V&S Global Duty Free director Erik Juul-Mortensen plus a representative from AIM/Nielsen, the research company working on the current study. Moodie International's Martin Moodie will moderate the seminar.
