The UK airport is inviting bids for its retail and catering concessions
Newquay airport has unveiled plans to expand its retail and food and beverage offer and has issued new tenders for three outlets.
A 30sq m (322sq ft) airside store will offer traditional duty-free product categories, destination merchandise and surfwear. An 80sq m (860sq ft) food and beverage outlet completes the airside offer, while an 80sq m outlet will provide mixed catering for passengers entering the check-in area and offer selected products including confectionery, tobacco and news items.
Prospective bidders have until February 20 to request information on the tenders from Cornwall County Council, which is running the tender. Bids are then due in by the third week in March. The winners will be announced at the end of April.
Newquay Airport senior contracts manager Nigel Horwell told RavenFox.com: "We have already received several interesting bids. We are reorganising the terminal and moving quickly on this."
The winning bidders are expected to begin trading on June 1 2007. The contracts will run for five years until May 31 2012, with an option to extend for a further two years.
