Buckaroo Duty Free introduces new strategy and shopping areas for all passengers at Dallas airport

Buckaroo Duty Free, the joint venture between Duty Free Air & Ship Supply and a Dallas-based partner, has introduced a new strategy for its store at Dallas Fort Worth International airport terminal D. Once off-limits to domestic passengers, Buckaroo has reconstructed the lower level of the D14 store so that it is now open to all passengers. All items except liquor and tobacco are now available to all because Buckaroo has agreed to pay the sales tax.

Buckaroo spokesperson Steve Flory said: “This is an airport first. All passengers in the terminal may now buy items from Buckaroo’s range at significant savings, and we’re very excited about the opportunity. The response from domestic passengers so far has been outstanding.”

Flory told RavenFox.com: “We have had significant experience in this sector and we understand the potential of opening the business to all passengers and the enhanced opportunities and benefits for Dallas airport, the customers and Buckaroo. The fact that Buckaroo is covering state sales taxes enables us to offer all products at prices that are in line with duty-free, which is a unique feature of this operation.”

The airport confirmed that the store would remain open to all passengers permanently. Buckaroo has changed the shop layout to accommodate the new initiative. Liquor and tobacco, which remain strictly duty-free, have been moved to the upper-level duty-free shop. “As all other product categories are available downstairs, we have expanded the most important lines, including fragrances, cosmetics and confectionery, and we are in negotiations with a number of fashion brands that have expressed interest in the concept.”

Additional changes are also being made to other areas, with special displays and enhanced product selections. New external and internal signage conveys the message that the shop is open to all travellers and that pricing is in line with duty-free.

Flory revealed that as travellers become more aware of the shop, Buckaroo would respond to any feedback it receives by tailoring the product assortment and displays accordingly.
