Airport operator BAA has redeveloped shops and catering facilities at London Gatwick airport South terminal ahead of the summer holiday season. It has added 50,000sq ft (4,645sq m) of space for retail, food and beverages and services, and opened several new shops.
A new Accessorize store has opened in the terminal, offering fashion and accessories across 114sq m (1,227sq ft). The WH Smith news and convenience outlet has also been expanded and now spans 280sq m (3,013sq ft), with the addition of airport-exclusive books to the selection.
The food and beverage options at Gatwick South now include a relocated and revamped McDonald’s, a Pret a Manger sandwich store and patisserie Apostrophe. Two new pubs, The Flying Horse and The Bridge Bar, have also opened. A Frankie & Benny’s diner and a Shake-a-Hula milkshake bar complete the new food offer.
BAA Gatwick airport commercial director Mike Luddy said: “This is one of the most exciting periods of Gatwick’s year and I am delighted to see so many fantastic new shops and restaurants, creating more variety and choice than ever before.”
