China Duty Free and its partners are to open the country's largest downtown duty-free store in April. Located in the first floor of the Shanghai stadium complex in Shanghai's Pudong district, the 3,000sq m (32,280sq ft) store is an investment from three partners, with 40% from the China Duty Free Group, 35% from the Shanghai Jinjiang Tourist Group and 25% from the Shanghai Pudong Real Estate Group. The area of the store puts it on a par with Hotel Lotte, Hotel Shilla and other major travel-retail locations in the region.

China Duty Free planned and designed the store which will feature mainly cosmetics, leathergoods and luxury brands but not cigarettes or wines. Customers who can produce their outbound airline tickets and passports are eligible to purchase at the new store.

Last year, Duty Free News International exclusively revealed China Duty Free's plans to open a series of downtown duty-free outlets in mainland Chinese cities.
