New exhibitors line up for Cannes
Tax Free World Association has announced that over 440 stands have been reserved at the TFWA World exhibition opening on 21 October in Cannes, already equalling the number of stands at last year's event
This year 63 new companies will exhibit including Paul Smith (fashion), Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses, Torres (wines), Piz Buin (fragrances), Thierry Mugler (accessories), and Escada (fashion).
The Paris-based design consultancy Nelly Rodi is selecting items in each product category to display in Travel Dream, the new concept which replaces Spotlight Corner. Travel Dream will be located in The Pavilion, a new luxury exhibition and event services area on the terrace beside the Palais des Festivals.
TFWA said there has been a marked increase in the number of German exhibitors whose numbers are up 27% compared to last year and Italian exhibitors, up 14%, but French companies still dominate with 35% of stands.
In terms of product categories, the number of international fragrance and cosmetics companies registered this year has increased by 10% and they represent 29% of stands. Liquor companies have also increased their numbers by 5% and they represent just under 21% of stands. The third largest category is fashion and accessories with 17%, slightly lower than last year. Other categories such as jewellery and watches, confectionery and foods, gifts, toys and tobacco are featured in roughly the same proportions as last year said TFWA.
"We are constantly amazed by the innovation demonstrated by these companies both old and new. Their fresh ideas make travel retail such an exciting shopping environment," commented TFWA commercial director Alain Maingreaud.
