Increase in airside space is part of a £7.5m ($15.8m) investment to increase passenger capacity

Bristol International airport has begun a £7.5m ($15.8m) expansion project which involves the creation of additional airside space, including a new retail outlet and two new restaurants. The investment aims to improve the facilities to keep pace with the increase in passenger numbers due to the growing number of destinations served from the airport. The works will also extend the security search area to alleviate congestion.

Airport CEO Paul Kehoe said: “The scale of this investment shows our continued commitment to providing ‘best in class’ airport facilities for the South West [of the UK]. When completed, this work will enable us to make better use of our terminal building and provide greater comfort and convenience to passengers.”
