The Chalhoub Group sets a date to begin operating at Cairo airport in partnership with Egyptair and the airport authority
The Chalhoub Group's ground-breaking new retail alliance with Egyptair and Cairo airport authority will begin operating on January 15, TRW has learned. The new joint venture will operate retail at Cairo International airport's new terminal one, upper floor.
The deal, revealed in DFNI October 15, signals the Chalhoub Group's first full airport duty-free contract outside Kuwait, where it operates Kuwait Duty Free through the Habchi & Chalhoub joint venture. But it is also a first for Middle East duty-free, with airport authority, duty-free operator and airline creating a new joint-venture company to run the business. The partners have a 10-year renewable contract.
