Nestlé joins Dufry representing Switzerland on ETRC

12-May-2005

The two companies are to take responsibility for their home country's participation on the regional trade association

Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR) and Dufry Group are to jointly represent Switzerland on the European Travel Retail Council (ETRC). The companies agreed to the role as Switzerland has no national trade association. NITR general manager Stewart Dryburgh becomes alternate director on the ETRC supervisory board.

ETRC president (and Aer Rianta Retail director of retail) Frank O'Connell welcomed their participation. "It is great to have Switzerland represented again," he said. "This development clearly indicates that more leading travel-retail companies now recognise the importance of being involved in the ETRC's activities to both defend and promote the trade in Europe and beyond."

O'Connell said that NITR had expressed their interest in joining the association following his presentation at the Global Travel Retail Summit held in London in February. Dufry Group's application for corporate membership of ETRC was also approved that month.
