Brian Collie's successor Stephen Nelson joins the group as retail director today

Stephen Nelson steps into his role as BAA retail director today (September 6), replacing Brian Collie at the head of the group's retail operations. Nelson, who joins from J Sainsbury where he was a board member and marketing director, will sit on BAA's executive committee and reports to CEO Mike Clasper.

Clasper said: "I am delighted that Stephen has joined BAA.  His commercial and marketing experience will bring a different dimension to strengthen the already successful retail team.  I am sure this combination of skills will bring continued benefits to our passengers' experience and to our shareholders."

Before his position at Sainsbury, Nelson held a number of roles at Diageo, and worked at Thorn EMI and OC&C strategy consultants. He will oversee retail strategy for BAA's UK airports, World Duty Free and BAA's international retail activity.
